What does "Calloo Callay" mean?
Beware of the Jabberwock! In Lewis Carrol's poem "The Jabberwocky" (from Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There) a boy heads into the forrest to face his biggest fear - the Jabberwock. He slays the beast with his vorpal blade and returns home. His Dad, upon seeing that his son has defeated the beast, chortles "Callooh Callay!"
Calloo Callay is devoted to looking for all the metaphorical Jabberwocks out there - anything a child has to overcome or deal with while growing up - and designing toys and stories that can help out. We think "Calloo Callay" (we changed the spelling to make it slightly easier to spell) makes a great rallying cry. Plus, it's pretty fun to say ten times fast.
How long does it take to create a Custom Creature?
Depends. Anywhere from a couple of hours (from concept to creation ) to a whole day. On average a custom monster takes about 5 hours start to finish.
How do I order my own Custom Creature?
Calloo Callay Custom is pretty hush hush for now. We are only creating special creatures for friends and family as gifts. But that doesn't mean you can't ask or suggest new ideas. We always love to hear from monster lovers.
Where does Calloo Callay Custom get its material?
We try to up-cycle as much as we can. And meaningful remnants are best! But sometimes we do buy particular patterns or prints to complete a concept. We also like taking advantage of Iron-on Transfers to add custom images or graphics to our monsters.
Does each Custom Creature have a mouth?
Only monsters have mouths. All others absorb their food through osmosis.
How can I use the monster sticker?
That's CeeCee Monster. He was kind enough to let us use him as our mascot. Plus we created him. You can have him eat things, maybe. Here's a couple ways:
A monkey, a squirrel, and a bird are racing to the top of a coconut tree. Who will get the banana first, the monkey, the squirrel, or the bird?
None of them, because you can't get a banana from a coconut tree!
What is the air speed of an unladen swallow?
Look it up in the google book.
